Trek from Simikot to Mt. Kailash

Mt. Kailash
Mount Kailash is known as holy mountain of both Hindus and Buddhist.The word kailash is derived from a word "kelasa" which means crystal therefore and kelasa is a word derived from sanskrit.Mt.kailah has its different meaning according to different religion.

According to Buddhism
Tantric Buddhists believe that Mount Kailash is the home of the Buddha Demchok (also known as Demchog or Chakrasamvara),who represents supreme bliss.

There are numerous sites in the region associated with Guru Rinpoche (Padmasambhava), whose tantric practices in holy sites around Tibet are credited with finally establishing Buddhism as the main religion of the country in the 7th–8th century

According to Hinduism
According to Hinduism, Lord Shiva, the destroyer of ignorance and illusion, resides at the summit of a legendary mountain named Kailash, where he sits in a state of perpetual meditation along with his wife parvati.

After a briefing and sightseeing of Kathmandu city, we'll you complete different permit formalities; along with our Nepalese member and expert sherpa guides, after we'll drive slowly across the Tibetan plateau.entering into tibet will be our best memories as we touch a part of our destination.

    Itinerary for Simikot-kailash trekking 2016

  • Day 01: Arrive in Kathmandu: (1,300m)
    Arrive at Kathmandu and transfer to hotel. A short. Overnight in hotel on b/b plan.
  • Day 02: Briefing on trek and its preparations (1,300m)
    Program: A detailed briefing on trek and its preparations. Overnight in on b/b plan
  • Day 03: Fly to Nepalgunj:
    Program: Flight to Nepalgunj. Nepalgunj is located in mid-western part of Terai, Nepal
  • Day 04: Fly to Simikot and commence trekking (2,960m)
    Program: We will take early morning flight to Simikot and commence trekking to Dharapori. 50 minutes flights, 4-5 hours walk, overnight in tents and all meals included.
  • Day 05: Trek to Kermi (2,300m)
    Program: We will start our trek by following Karnali River with magnificent surrounding mountains, rivers and traditional villages of the Khasa people. 5-6 hours walk through mountain villages and forests, overnight in camp.
  • Day 06: Trek to Yalbang Gompa (2,890m)
    Program: We will also have short visit to the Yalbang Gompa. It is largest and the most revered monastery in this area. 6-7 hours walk, overnight in camp
  • Day 07: Trek to Tumkot Khola (2,850m)
    Program: This is another rewarding day in the picturesque Karnali valley. 5-6 hours walk, overnight in camp.
  • Day 08: Trek to Tadodhunga (3,750m)
    Program: leaving the Karnali River behind eventually. 5-6 hours walk, overnight in tents and all meals included.
  • Day 09: Trek to Hilsa via Nara La Pass (4,620m)
    Program: We will trek to Hilsa following the rugged mountain trails and crossing Nara La Pass. 4-5 hours walk, overnight in camp
  • Day 10: Welcome to Tibet and drive to Taklakot (3,770m)
    Program: After crossing the Karnali suspension bridge, we will reach our first village in Tibet called Sher where our land cruiser, supporting truck and Tibetan guide will be waiting for us. And then, from there, we will drive to Taklakot paying a visit to Khojarnath Gompa, which was built in the 10th century by a great Buddhist translator, Rinchhen Zangbo. We will witness spectacular landscape, the unmatched beauty of Gurlamandata (7,694m) and Darchula Himalayan range. After immigration formalities done by the Chinese army we will transfer to a basic guest house. 1-2 hours’ drive, overnight in a basic guest house. And from this day we will be leaving Nepal.
  • Day 11: Drive to holy Manasarovar Lake (4,588m)
    Program: We will drive to holy Mansarovar Lake keeping picturesque Gurlamandata on the left. We will catch the first glimpse of the holy Mt. Kailash and famous Rakshas Lake as we approach to the Mansarovar Lake. Overnight in camp.
  • Day 12: Explore Khyunglung and Tirthapuri
    Program: after breakfast, we will drive to Khyunglung/Garuda Valley and Tirthapuri with picnic lunch. Overnight camping at Mansarovar Lake.
  • Day 13: Drive to Tharboche and trek to Driraphuk (4,950m)
    Program: We will drive to Tharboche, the Kora starting point. And then, we will commence first day of our circumambulation to holy Mount Kailash. 1 hour drive, 5-6 hours walk, overnight camping near North Face of Kailash and all meals included.
  • Day 14: Cross Dolma La Pass (5,600m) and trek to Zutrulphuk (4,700m)
    Program: This is the day everybody talks about. This will be the hardest day of the trek and will take 8 hours to complete. Despite the physical challenge, it will be our one of our most rewarding days as we will come cross the Pass with glorious and magical view of holy Mt. Kailash. At the end of the day; we will camp near medicine Buddha in Lam Chu valley
  • Day 15: Trek to Darchen and drive to Mansarovar Lake (4,588m)
    Program: After breakfast, we will have a quick visit to Zutrulphuk Gompa and Milarepa Cave and then trek to Darchen where we will have our lunch. After lunch, we will drive to Mansarovar Lake. Overnight in camp.
  • Day 16: Drive to Saga (4,250m)
    Program: After breakfast, we will drive to Saga. 6-7 hours drive, overnight in a guest house.
  • Day 17: Drive to Nyalam
    Program: After breakfast, we will drive to Nyalam with spectacular views of Mount Shishapangma, Gaurishanker and Pigutso Lake. 5-6 hours drive, overnight in a guest house.
  • Day 18: Drive to Zangmou and onto Kathmandu
    Program: First of all, we will drive to Zhangmou and then to Kathmandu after performing border formalities at Chinese and Nepalese immigrations. 6-7 hours drive, overnight in a hotel in Kathmandu on b/b plan.
  • Day 19: A free day in Kathmandu                                                                                                                                                                                                    Program: at night farewell dinner party
